Picantos began in a Mexican-Muslim student’s family kitchen, bringing his mother’s authentic birria recipe to life with a halal twist.
What started with weekly sell-outs and university Taco Tuesdays quickly went viral, leading to restaurant pop-ups and eventually our first official home at Lunar Park, Birmingham.
Today, we stay true to our roots, serving 8-hour slow-cooked halal birria, made with traditional Mexican chillies imported straight from Mexico.

The Menu
Picantos started with one stubborn belief: a taco should taste like somebody cared. We roast our own chillies, grind our own spice blends, and treat blandness as a personal insult. Mexico taught us the technique — our kitchen adds the mischief.
